ROOTS Farm & Forest School is a nature-based learning community serving children ages 2–14 years across our campuses in Georgetown, Milton, Clayton, Frankford, and Townsend, Delaware. We offer a unique blend of preschool programs, elementary school, and middle school (with high school coming soon), designed to meet families where they are—whether you're seeking an alternative schooling option, homeschool enrichment, or a full comprehensive homeschool program.
At ROOTS, outdoor education looks different—in the best way. Our students learn through hands-on learning, outdoor classrooms, and project-based education rooted in real life. From gardening programs and animal care to building, creating, exploring, and collaborating, children are actively engaged in meaningful work that builds both knowledge and confidence.

With a low 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, we truly see and support each child.
We honor all learning styles—whether auditory, visual, tactile, or kinesthetic—and create space for children to grow at their own pace while still being challenged and supported.
Our programs are designed to support both neurotypical and neurodivergent learners, creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, capable, and confident. We specialize in supportive education for diverse learners.

Our experience at ROOTS has been exceptional! The staff are truly invested in my children’s education and their growth as learners. Small class sizes and a creative out- of-the-box educational experience have enabled my children to thrive in an environment outside of a traditional classroom. While making friends, my children are also learning about nature, survival skills, animals, cooking, farming, independence, and so much more in a multisensory environment where they are encouraged to dig in and get dirty.

My 5 year old daughter has taken yoga classes with Miss Brooke and Miss Talon at ROOTS. The yoga is SO much more than “just” yoga. Through the ROOTS yoga program my daughter has learned so many new tools for emotional regulation. She has learned lessons in helping her community, being true to herself, and spreading kindness wherever she goes. I cannot thank ROOTS enough, especially Miss Talon, for giving my child a safe space to make friends and connect with herself through breath and movement. The things she has learned at ROOTS will make a positive impact in her life for years to come.

Our son is almost 2 and has been going for the last few months, and we love it! He loves talking about what he did outside that day. He especially loves the bunnies. We love that it’s an outdoors program that allows him to be curious about the outside in a safe manner, while learning basic life skills appropriate for his age!

My 7, 5, and 3 year old all attended the fall ROOTS session and it was an amazing experience for each one of them. The program adapts to all ages and the instructors are compassionate, knowledgeable, and kind. My three year old was hesitant at first but felt right at home after meeting our instructor Rhonda and all the kids looked forward to their class. They always came home with something special they made in class and many of the activities provided an extension of learning and activities we could do as a family at home. The program exceeded my expectations and allowed my kids to gain confidence with new experiences and learn skills that will benefit their futures.
